I. Introduction
By registering an account in-game or on the forum, you agree to the information found within this thread. A few notes to begin:
The terms listed within are subject to change without notice, major changes may be announced but there is no guarantee. It is your responsibility to check this thread frequently for updates.
- Ban duration serve as a guideline for how long a person may generally be banned for breaking that specific rule, they are not a guarantee that you will be banned for that duration. It is ultimately up to the moderator who bans you as to how long you are banned for.
- Just because a moderator chose to be lenient with one person does not mean they have to choose to be lenient with you. Favoritism is another topic, any suspicion of favoritism should be reported immediately.
- Ignorance of the information provided here will never serve as an excuse.
II. In Game Rules
The following rules/terms will be broken down in to two sections, 'major' and 'minor' game disruptions. 'Major' game disruptions will always result in a permanent ban on the first offense. 'Minor' game disruptions will vary based on the general ban duration, and the moderator who handles your ban. Ban duration for more commonly broken rules will generally follow an escalating system of punishments. However, This will not apply to every rule.
III. Major Game Disruptions
III.1. Hacking
Hacking is defined as any attempt to alter the game files overall. The auto-ban system which will detect the vast majority of hack tools and deal with it accordingly for hacking or modifying files. Any use of packet editors, trainers, or other hack tools is strictly forbidden. Any attempts to edit WZ files (wz editing) is also strictly forbidden.
III.2. Real Money Trade (RMT)
Any attempts to sell/purchase in game items or currency for real currency or possessions, or currency or items in other games is strictly forbidden.
III.3. Scamming
Scamming is any attempts to knowingly make an unfair trade, or outright steal another person's items, currencies, or services. This rule is subjective, please be honest and straight forward in your dealings with other players.
If you steal a person's items and they can prove it you will be permitted one chance to return the items in exchange for an un-ban, Second time is the last time.
III.4. Bug Abuse & Exploiting
All bugs should be reported here. Any major bugs or exploits should be reported privately to a staff member immediately. Any attempts to abuse or take advantage of a bug or exploit are strictly forbidden.
IV. Minor Game Disruptions
IV.1. Botting
We have no quick and reliable way to tell whether you are taping down your keys, weighting down your keys, using macro or botting tools, or just not paying attention. It is your responsibility to respond to players, staff, and lie detectors. If you fail to respond, you will be banned.
You will generally be banned for 30 days on the first offense, 90 days on the second offense, Permanently on the third offense for Botting.
IV.2. Killstealing (KSing)
If you do not own a map, do not attack on it. It is that simple. We have a map ownership system. You will remain the map owner until you have stopped attacking for ten minutes, after that you forfeit the map. Please make sure to use kites and the map ownership option via Quick Move.
A moderator may decide to warn you on your first offense, not always though. You will generally be banned for 7 days on the first offense, 14 days on the second offense, 30 days on the third offense, and permanently on the fourth offense for killstealing.
IV.3. Harassment
Harassment is by nature a very subjective term. It is simple, please be nice to your fellow players. Everyone loses their temper sometimes. Please do not attempt to harass a player to the point they feel it is necessary to report you.
IV.4. Impersonation
Any attempts to impersonate a staff member or another player are forbidden. Bans will depend on the severity of the case.
IV.5. Discussion of botting/hacks
Discussion of hacks or bots is not allowed. If you are found discussing such things, you will be banned. Depending on what the moderator handling your case feels, you may be banned permanently. This is a very 'flex' rule, meaning it will depend heavily on what was said, and who is banning you.
IV.6. Advertising
Discussion of other MapleStory private servers, 'Black Markets' (i.e. RMT websites), websites that advertise hacks or bots for games in general, etc. is strictly forbidden. Advertising such things over megaphones will, generally, be a permanent ban.
Advertising social media is not allowed, linking twitch streams or "add me on <some service>" over smegas will usually result in a ban. You are only allowed to advertise TwitchTV or YouTube links in the cinema section of the forums, or your signature on the forums. Anywhere else is disallowed.
IV.7. Rumors
Any attempts to start rumors about a person, or the server, is forbidden. Rumors should always be reported. This rule is very subjective, meaning a moderator may choose to not ban a person or to ban them permanently depending on the situation.
IV.8. Boss runs
Selling or buying boss runs is not allowed. No boss is an exception to this rule, especially late-to-end game bosses.
You will be banned for 7 days on the first offense, 14 days on the second offense, and permanently on the third offense for violating this rule.
IV.9. Account sharing/Gear Rental
Sharing accounts as well as Renting or loaning gears for any purpose is not allowed. if you lose items or lose access to your account due to sharing your information you will not be compensated. Bans will vary based on the situation.
IV.10. Multiple accounts
Multiple accounts are not allowed. The rule is one account per person, per computer. You are not allowed to play on a second account if you are banned, under any circumstances. If you are found on a second account, you will be permanently banned.
Now for some certain situations this rule may behave differently, ex: If you have a sibling and both of you playing together, However under such circumstances you will be asked to provide a proof to the staff members.
IV.11. Fake bidding
Fake bidding is when a seller says someone offered on an item that they didn't in an attempt to raise the current offer. Fake bidding is also knowingly bidding on an item with no intention to buy it, again, in an attempt to raise the current offer. Both of these things are not allowed.
V. Forum Rules
V.1. General Rules
- Please construct posts and threads in English only. Posts/threads in other languages will be deleted. Private Messages and visitor messages in other languages are allowed.
- Explicit content, i.e. nudity, drugs, violence, hateful content, etc. will be deleted. Avatars containing nudity will be removed.
- Please post in the correct sections. Posts may be moved otherwise.
- Please keep your signature reasonable, large images will be resized or deleted.
- Please do not create posts with the sole purpose to flame or insult a user.
- Stay on topic; off topic posts will be deleted, and you may be warned.
- You are limited to one 'bump' per thread per 24 hours.
- Do not use URL shorteners, ad money generating or otherwise. Examples of this include bit.ly, goo.gl, adf.ly, bc.vc, etc
- Please post your messages only once. The repetitions are unpleasant and useless.
- Racism is not allowed at all and wont be tolerated. Hence, will result in a ban.
V.2. Paid graphic services
Selling graphic design services is allowed as long as you abide by the following criteria:
- You post a thread in the Graphics Workshop section only, and make sure you note that it is not free work.
- You agree not to sell graphic design services for anything other than in game mesos/items, this means no real life currencies or items/currencies in other games as these types of exchanges are forbidden.
- Do not smega your service sales or links to your thread on the forums, that is not what the megaphone system is intended for.
- Any attempts to scam will result in a permanent ban both in-game and on the forums. Bans and infractions are up to the moderator involved, any suspicion (as with in-game) of unfairness or special treatment should be reported.
V.3. Ban Appeal Policy
For each ban you are allowed one chance at appeal. You can appeal here. You can find the ban appeal format here. Bans that do not follow this format will be deleted, you may choose to remake it following the correct format. An appeal may be denied for any reason, or for no reason at all. If you feel your ban was unjust after you've appealed and received a response, please contact a staff member privately. Do not expect an immediate reply, or at all. Spamming inboxes of staff members is a bad idea.
